The easiest way to change things up might seem like actually doing with Jurassic World 4 what Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom seemingly promised, have dinosaurs run amok and perhaps even go apocalyptic with the potential fallout on humankind. Yet, with Claire and Owen’s story seemingly over, and the original Jurassic Park trio having gotten their last hurrah, simply reversing course and making what Dominion arguably should have been could be too little too late. Instead, it is time to really go out on a creative limb and do something new with the Jurassic World franchise. With Jurassic World 4, Universal should bring in an entirely new creative team, an entirely new cast, a bunch of dinosaur species never seen onscreen before, set things in a location they have never before used, and really try to freshen everything up. Do not recreate any shots or scenes from Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park, do not nod to it, just move on. Sure, T-Rexs and raptors will still be a part of the mix, because excluding them from a Jurassic movie would make the backlash against Dominion look quaint. Outside of those iconic dinos though, Universal needs to innovate. At this point the Jurassic World brand almost sells itself, so changing things up would not be nearly as risky as the studio might think. Even if it feels like a gamble, just allowing things to continue stagnating will inevitably kill off the franchise for good.
