“He was always really nice to me” – Keegan Bradley ‘heartbroken’ by Grayson Murray’s death despite not being close

Keegan Bradley had a good day on the course on Sunday (May 26). The 37-year-old golfer shot a closing 67 to finish T2 at the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge. However, he didn’t seem too happy off-field as he recalled compatriot Grayson Murray after his sudden death.

Following his round, Bradley remembered playing with Murray at Quail Hollow a few weeks ago. The PGA Tour star admitted that he didn’t know Murray very well, but noted that the late golfer was “always really nice” to him. Bradley said he was “heartbroken” by the latter’s passing.

Bradley added that he thought of Murray when he walked into the locker room on Sunday.

Speaking about Grayson Murray’s death during his flash interview, Keegan Bradley said (at 1:18):

“I was thinking about him all day today. I didn’t know him very well. I just knew him from playing golf and being out with him. So, he was always really nice to me. I always enjoyed playing with him, played to practice around with him at Quail Hollow a few weeks ago. I really was heartbroken by this.

“I walked in the locker room today and the first thing I thought of was that he was here two days ago and it’s horrible.”

Furthermore, Bradley addressed the mental health issues Murray had been going through and noted that he hopes everyone “in his position” can reach out and find a “support system.” He said “Life in general can be tough” and added that he’s thinking about Grayson.

For the unversed, Grayson Murray pulled out of the Charles Schwab Challenge after just 16 holes. The golfer cited illness as the reason for withdrawal. The PGA Tour on Saturday announced the golfer’s passing at 30. Later, his parents revealed that the golfer “took his own life.”

Murray was suffering from mental health issues for a while. He’d admitted to receiving treatment for alcoholism back in 2021.
