F9: Back on Track with Family Feuds

F9, also known as Fast & Furious 9, is not just an action-packed blockbuster but also marks the return of director Justin Lin, who has been behind the wheel of the franchise since Fast & Furious 6 (2013). This time around, Lin is not only directing but also teaming up with Daniel Casey to write the screenplay, marking a change from Chris Morgan, the series’ regular screenwriter since Fast & Furious (2009).

This new installment is the sequel to The Fate of the Furious (2017), the ninth chapter in the main storyline and the tenth full-length film released overall. The familiar cast will reunite, led by Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto. Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, John Cena, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron will also return to deliver their impressive performances.

F9 was originally scheduled for release in April 2019 but faced several delays. The first reason was to avoid clashing with Hobbs & Shaw (2019) and No Time to Die (2021), and then it was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, the film was officially released in some Asian countries on May 19, 2021, and is scheduled to hit US theaters on June 25, 2021.

In F9, Dominic Toretto will face a new threat, none other than his long-lost brother – Jakob (John Cena). Jakob’s appearance promises to bring complex family feuds and heart-pounding action sequences that are true to the Fast & Furious spirit.
