The trailer opens with a shot of Hogwarts Castle, followed by a montage of scenes from the film, including Harry, Ron, and Hermione as adults, Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy as students at Hogwarts, and Lord Voldemort returning. The trailer also features new footage of the Cursed Child’s main villain, Gellert Grindelwald.

The film is set 19 years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Harry Potter is now an Auror, and his son, Albus, is about to start his own education at Hogwarts. Albus is sorted into Slytherin, much to his father’s dismay. He soon makes friends with Scorpius Malfoy, the son of Draco Malfoy.

Together, Albus and Scorpius discover a hidden truth about their families’ pasts. They must use this information to stop a new threat to the wizarding world.
