Following his round, Bradley remembered playing with Murray at Quail Hollow a few weeks ago. The PGA Tour star admitted that he didn’t know Murray very well, but noted that the late golfer was “always really nice” to him. Bradley said he was “heartbroken” by the latter’s passing.
Bradley added that he thought of Murray when he walked into the locker room on Sunday.
Speaking about Grayson Murray’s death during his flash interview, Keegan Bradley said (at 1:18):
“I was thinking about him all day today. I didn’t know him very well. I just knew him from playing golf and being out with him. So, he was always really nice to me. I always enjoyed playing with him, played to practice around with him at Quail Hollow a few weeks ago. I really was heartbroken by this.
“I walked in the locker room today and the first thing I thought of was that he was here two days ago and it’s horrible.”
Furthermore, Bradley addressed the mental health issues Murray had been going through and noted that he hopes everyone “in his position” can reach out and find a “support system.” He said “Life in general can be tough” and added that he’s thinking about Grayson.
For the unversed, Grayson Murray pulled out of the Charles Schwab Challenge after just 16 holes. The golfer cited illness as the reason for withdrawal. The PGA Tour on Saturday announced the golfer’s passing at 30. Later, his parents revealed that the golfer “took his own life.”
Murray was suffering from mental health issues for a while. He’d admitted to receiving treatment for alcoholism back in 2021.
Davis Riley pays tribute to Grayson Murray
Despite his 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge wins, Davis Riley dubbed Sunday a “super sad day.” The 27-year-old golfer paid tribute to Grayson Murray and sent his condolences to the late golfer’s family.
The two-time PGA Tour winner noted there was “definitely a little extra to play for” at the event overshadowed by Grayson Murray’s untimely death.
Davis Riley told the CBS broadcast on Sunday:
“A super sad day in the golf world but my heart just goes out to him and his family. There was definitely a little extra to play for today… A sad day, and I have a heavy heart for his family.”
It is pertinent to note that Riley and Bradley had joined other golfers and caddies to wear red and black ribbons on Monday. This was done to honor the late player, who wore the colors of his hometown ice hockey side – The Carolina Hurricanes.
