Prince Harry ‘would love to patch things up’ with his family, but his wife Meghan Markle is still ‘waiting for an apology’, a royal expert claims
Prince Harry is thought to be having “sleepless nights” over his upcoming visit to the UK next month.
The Duke of Sussex will return to his homeland at the beginning of May as he attends a celebration of ten years of the Invictus Games. His visit is set to include a special service at St. Paul’s Cathedral on May 8.
But a royal expert exclusively tells us that the visit isn’t easy for Harry. The Duke is usually supported by his wife Meghan Markle at Invictus events, but it’s unclear if she will return to the UK, even for a cause so close to her heart.
“Harry and Megan are having sleepless nights about what they should do when Harry visits the UK later this year – he will have to do something to acknowledge the huge difficulties his family is going through, but he won’t want to do or say anything that seems to imply anything less than wholehearted support for his permanently aggrieved wife,” royal expert and author Tom Quinn tells us.

The last time Harry visited the UK it was to meet with his father King Charles after his cancer diagnosis but Meghan stayed in Montecito, California, with their two children – Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. It’s thought the visit lasted just 12 minutes and Harry paid no such visit to his brother Prince William and his wife Princess Kate. Now after Kate’s cancer diagnosis, Harry is left in a quandry.
“Harry would love to patch things up with his sister-in-law and with his brother and father,” Quinn tells us. “He sees things far more calmly now he has had his say in Spare and in various interviews, but he just cannot think how to do it and keep Meghan on board.”
It’s thought the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton “definitely doesn’t want an apology” to end the feud with Meghan, claims a royal expert. But the Duchess of Sussex’s views on the fallout are very different, according to Quinn. The two women’s relationship has been under extraordinary scrutiny after their fall-out was described in Prince Harry’s bombshell memoir Spare. The Duke of Sussex said he had found Meghan crying “on the floor” after an argument with Kate over bridesmaid dresses.
“Kate definitely doesn’t want an apology, but Meghan definitely does,” Quinn said. “William just thinks the whole thing is a storm in a teacup and can’t understand why his brother can’t get over the sort of spat that many brothers have to go through. Meghan and Harry feel hurt by the way they were treated when they were working members of the royal family and William and Kate feel they were treated poorly once Harry and Meghan left and Harry published Spare.”
