PRINCE WILLIAM is an avid football fan and has passed his passion onto his son Prince George. Here’s the sweet way the father and son may have bonded as the Premier League returned this week.

Prince William, 37, and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, 38, have been spending lockdown in Norfolk with their three children – Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two. On Tuesday George may have been allowed to stay up late to watch a special event with his dad.

Prince William is President of the Football Association (FA)and has dedicated time and effort into promoting mental health in football as the coronavirus pandemic put professional matched on pause.

The Duke of Cambridge featured in a BBC documentary “Football, Prince William and Our Mental Health” which aired in May.

In the programme, Prince William had a candid conversation with former footballer Marvin Sordell about the importance of speaking about mental health.

The documentary followed William’s campaign to get British men to open up about mental health issues by using football as a way to get men talking and to break the taboo around the issue.

The message read: “So good to have football back, we have all missed it! Thank you to everyone involved for your hard work in making it happen. W”

The Aston Villa vs Sheffield United game kicked-off at 6pm so it seems likely William will have let George stay up with him to watch.

Ahead of the match, which ended 0-0, all footballers took the knee in support of the Black Lives Matter anti-racism movement.

While players usually have their names on the back of their shirts there were replaced with “Black Lives Matter” instead.
