The NBA world mourns Bill Walton

Two-time NBA champ and Hall of Famer Bill Walton died Monday after a battle with cancer. He was 71 years old. He was honored before the Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Walton, who won two national championships under John Wooden at UCLA, was the No. 1 overall pick by the Potland Trail Blazers in the 1974 NBA draft. He led Portland to a NBA title in 1977. In 1986 while with Celtics, Walton was the league’s sixth man. He won his second NBA title with those Boston Celtics.

After retiring, Walton became a legendary announcer, covering five NBA Finals.

Interesting tidbit, Walton was a Dead Head and had seen the Grateful Dead perfomer more than a thousand times.
