Travis Kelce provides update on retirement plans after Taylor Swift ‘opportunities’ admission

Travis Kelce has batted off questions about retirement

Travis Kelce insists he wants to play “until the wheels fall off”, with the Kansas City Chiefs star not contemplating retirement as he chases a third Super Bowl triumph in succession.

The 34-year-old wants to get every last drop out of his Hall-of-Fame-caliber career, despite huge “opportunities” awaiting him when he does bring the curtain down on his playing days.

Kelce was a big name across America in his own right thanks to his starring role in the Chiefs’ dynasty, winning three Super Bowl titles in the past five seasons, but his relationship with music icon Taylor Swift has elevated him to a new level of celebrity status.

The four-time All-Pro tight end has seen his podcast “New Heights”, which he co-hosts with his brother, Jason, has become one of the most popular in the country, and he has made steps into the world of TV and acting. Travis has signed up to host new Amazon game show “Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?” and he will make his dramatic acting debut in the upcoming FX horror drama “Grotesquerie”.

Kelce is openly courting acting roles, admitting he is “looking for movie deals” on his podcast last month, adding that he wants to be part of “Happy Gilmore 2”, the long-awaited sequel to Adam Sandler’s 1996 golf comedy.

Kelce is under contract with the Chiefs until the end of the 2025 season after inking a deal to become the NFL’s best-paid tight end in April, with a salary of $17 million fully guaranteed this year. But his interest in other pursuits has led to questions whether the end is nigh for one of the best football players of the modern era.

But Kelce told reporters on Tuesday he has no intention of calling it quits just yet as the Chiefs chase a “three-peat”. “Hopefully, that doesn’t happen anytime soon,” he said.

“I really can’t put a timeframe on [retirement]. I love coming to work every single day. Obviously, I know there’s opportunities outside of football for me. You have to keep in perspective that I’m still a little kid when I come into this building, man.
