From the producers of the Jurassic, Bourne and Indiana Jones franchises, Twisters is a modern chapter of the 1996 blockbuster, Twister. Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, the Oscar-winning director and screenwriter of Minari, Twisters stars Golden Globe nominee Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where the Crawdads Sing, Normal People) and Glen Powell (Anyone But You, Top Gun: Maverick) as storm chasers who must work together to try to predict and possibly harness the immense power of tornadoes. Edgar-Jones plays Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado in college, who is now safely researching storm patterns on screens in New York City.
She is lured back to the vast plains by her friend Javi to test a revolutionary new tracking system. There, she clashes with Tyler Owens (Powell), a charming and reckless social media superstar who likes to broadcast his storm chasing adventures with his boisterous crew, the more dangerous the better. As the storm season intensifies, unprecedented and terrifying phenomena are unleashed, and Kate, Tyler and their competing teams find themselves in the direct path of multiple converging storm systems in central Oklahoma in a life-or-death battle.
Twisters also stars Golden Globe nominee Anthony Ramos (In the Heights) as Javi, along with David Corenswet (the upcoming Superman: Legacy film) and features an exciting new cast including Brandon Perea of Nope, Sasha Lane (American Honey), Daryl McCormack (Peaky Blinders), Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Nik Dodani (Atypical) and Golden Globe winner Maura Tierney (Beautiful Boy). From Amblin Entertainment, Twisters is produced by Frank Marshall, who produced the 1996 original, along with Kathleen Kennedy, Trevor Mackinson, Michael Barnathan and Mel Gibson. Twisters is written by Mark Heyman and Jeff Blitz, with a story by Heyman and Michael Crichton, author of the 1996 original novel.
