Woj tells the Spurs to MOVE QUICKLY & give Victor Wembanyama more help | NBA Today

Wojnarowski has a message for the San Antonio Spurs: Move quickly and give Victor Wembanyama more help if they want him to reach his full potential.

On NBA Today, Wojnarowski said, “This is a special player. We’ve never seen a player like this at this age. He’s 7’3″, can shoot from anywhere on the floor, moves well, and is an excellent defender. But he’s still just a 19-year-old kid. He needs experienced players around him to help him develop and reach his full potential.”

Wojnarowski continued, “The Spurs have some other promising young players, but they’re not in Wembanyama’s class. They need to make some bold moves this summer if they want to compete in the Western Conference. If they don’t, they risk wasting Wembanyama’s talent.”

Some moves the Spurs could make include:

  • Trading for an established star: The Spurs could use some of their young assets to trade for an established star who could help Wembanyama right away. Some potential targets include Bradley Beal, Damian Lillard, or Karl-Anthony Towns.
  • Signing a top free agent: There will be a number of quality free agents available this summer, including James Harden, Kyrie Irving, and John Collins. The Spurs could use their cap space to sign one of these players and form a formidable trio with Wembanyama.
  • Developing their other young players: The Spurs have a number of other promising young players on their roster, such as Devin Vassell, Joshua Primo, and Romeo Langford. If these players can step up and become consistent contributors, it will take some of the pressure off of Wembanyama and make the Spurs more competitive.

Only time will tell what the Spurs will do next. But it’s clear that they need to act quickly if they want to maximize Victor Wembanyama’s potential.

In addition to Wojnarowski’s advice, several other NBA experts have also spoken highly of Wembanyama. ESPN‘s Kevin Pelton called him the “biggest prospect in NBA history” while SI.com‘s Chris Mannix said he has the potential to be the “greatest of all time.”

It’s clear that Wembanyama is a special talent and the Spurs have the opportunity to create something special with him. But they will need to make some tough decisions this summer if they want to turn those dreams into reality.
