As golfers prepare themselves for the Wells Fargo Championship, they will be relieved to hear that they won’t be facing Scottie Scheffler. The World No.1 has been on a rampage this season claiming four wins and a runner-up finish in his previous five starts.
The 2024 Masters winner will not be playing at the Wells Fargo Championship as he will be spending time with his wife, Meredith. The couple are awaiting the arrival of their first child.
This was something that was perhaps expected by many. Before the final round of The Masters at the Augusta National, Scottie Scheffler claimed that he would withdraw from the event if his wife went in labor and called him. Well that did not happen and the American golfer went on to claim his second green jacket.
Apart from Scheffler, golfer Ludvig Aberg has also pulled out from the Wells Fargo Championship. The Swedish golfer took to his Instagram and announced that he has suffered a knee injury. This will see miss his the chance to make his debut at this this signature event from North Carolina.
Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth applaud Scottie Scheffler for his performances
Scottie Scheffler has taken the world of golf by storm this year. After starting slowly, the 27-year-old golfer slammed his foot on the pedal and has not looked back since. Back-to-back victories at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship made him one of the favorites to win The Masters.
Not only did he do just that and run away with his second major win, but he went on to win again next week at the RBC Heritage. These performances from him has drawn praises from fellow major champions Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth.
Scheffler’s dominating run has often been compared to Tiger Woods’ run. While he still has a long way to go to catch Woods in major and tour wins, the 15-time major champion believes that Scheffler is a good ball striker and can blow away fields if he is putting well.
If he putts decent, he’s going to win. If he putts great he blows away fields. If he has a bad putting week, he contends, He’s just that good of a ball striker

Meanwhile, Spieth claimed that he has been “inspired” with the way Scheffler performs on the PGA Tour. Despite being younger than him, Scheffler’s playing style makes Spieth want to “go out and get better‘.
I’m nothing but extremely excited and happy for him and it’s well deserved. It’s kind of the first time I’ve ever looked at somebody younger than me and been in like that. I’ve driven inspiration, like I’m inspired by what he’s doing. It makes me want to go out and get better and that’s always been someone that’s been older than me.

It will be interesting to see how Scheffler will perform once he returns to the course. With the PGA Championship at Valhalla coming up next week, there are some questions regarding whether he will tee off in the second major. Only time will tell when will be come back.
